Hand Painted English Handle-less Cup and Saucer

This is a hand enameled handle-less cup and saucer by Hammersley & Co of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England. The cup measures 3 1/2" in diameter and 2 1/4" tall and the saucer measures 5 5/8" in diameter and 5/8" tall. There are no chips, cracks, dings or other damage and the 22k fired-on gold trim shows no wear. This mark was used from the early 1930's to the early 1960's according to Kovel's Book on Marks, but I would date this from the early part of the used of this mark. Happy Collecting!!!!!!
