This is a primitive wood utensil tray, possibly Norwegian in origin that still have some of its original blue milk paint. The reason I say that this is possibly Norwegian is because it came from an estate that had alot of Norwegian items including a 1844 Norwegian rose-malled trunk, and a 1778 Norwegian pewter tankard belonging to the family of a Hans Hansen who settled in the Decorah Iowa area. . The tray has two compartments and measures 12 3/4" long, 8" wide and 6 1/2" tall. It appears to be made with square headed nails. There are a few worm holes in the wood, a few small pieces of wood missing out of the bottom edge, and two visible cracks in the very bottom of the tray. I date this from the very late 1700's or early to mid, 1800's. Happy Collecting!!!!!
