This is a set of 8 amber Kings Crown Thumbprint stemmed goblets or wines. Each one measures 5 3/4" tall and 3" in diameter and holds about 7 1/2 oz. There are no chips, cracks, dings or other damage. This was made by Indiana Glass in the mid 1960's and as far as I can tell, Indiana was the only company to have made this pattern in amber. The Kings Crown pattern dates as far back as the 1880's when it was called 'Excelsior' and manufactured by Adams & Co Glass. U.S. Glass Co. took it over in the 1890's and early 1900's. The pattern was so popular that many companies made 'knock-offs' and Indiana was one of them. Based upon the pattern number of '77', the price guide 'A Century of Indiana Glass' says that they started producing that pattern fairly early in the history of the company although mostly in clear and ruby and cranberry flash. and was making their pieces in amber by the mid 1960's. The price guide lists this size of goblet as pricing at $13 each in 2005. I am asking for less. This pattern has also been produced by Tiffin during the same time period although they did not continue the pattern for as long, as they went out of business. Happy Collecting!!!!
