This is a CDV, a Carte De Visite, of an unidentified Confederate POW, prisoner of war, kept at the POW camp at Camp Douglas, Ill. The Photographer was D. F Brandon who took many pictures of the POW's presumably for identification and so that the pictures could be sent home to the loved ones to assure them that they, the prisoner's were OK, but incarcerated. The corners have been cut off, maybe so that it would fit into an oval frame...other than that, the picture is in good condition for its age ...
