Nice Dark Amber Glass Military Hat Powder Box or Pin Dish from Paden City circa 1920's. These hats were made in three styles (concentric rings/stippled brim, plain and plain with a stippled brim). This is the first type.

It has a smooth base. The sides of the hat have tight concentric rings and the brim is stippled. The matching amber list has concentric circles. There is one large eagle insignia in the front center, and two smaller ones on the side.

The lid to this hat measures 5 3/4 inches across. From tip of brim to back of lid is 5 1/2 inches long. It is 2 1/2 inches at the tallest point.

Condition is good. The mold seams are a little rough in places where they weren't fired or polished. There are also a few air bubbles, as is common in this type of glass. The top of the brim of the hat, right on the mold seam has a dimple or indentation. It could be a flat flake, but I have seen other amber hats with this same flaw. I'm guessing it is something that occurred when the piece was being removed from the mold. The inside of the flange on the lid has a very small (3/16") chip as well as some very small places on the unpolished mold seam that will catch a fingernail.
