What an ingenious invention. This portable shaving razor come in a nickle plated box that include a whet stone on one lid and a rubber strop on the other.

Made circa 1930's, this is the Imperial 2 model Rolls Razor in the nickle plated case.

This set is complete with the whet stone, strop, razor handle, razor and spindle for attaching to the operating handle.

To sharpen, the blade is attached to the operating handle inside the case. It is then rolled back and forth over the stone. Turn it over and roll it against the strop. The blade can then be removed and attached to the handle for shaving.

Lots of marks and numbers on this one! The Strop is marked Made in England. The Safety Blade is marked Rolls Razor B 42 Made in England on the flat back side. one side of the razor is engraved Best Sheffield Steel, the other side is engraved Rolls Razor Pat nos 224-578 242-718.

The case lid with the whet stone bears the "The Whetter" trademark. The case lid with the strop has Rolls Razor Made In England 1927 and a whole bunch of patent numbers too tiny for me to read.

The side of the case has the serial number B656374/

The closed case measures 6 inches long, 2 3/4 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick. It is in good used condition with age related wear to the case. There are a few tiny spots of oxidation (see photos) Also, the whet stone is cracked on one end, but is all there.
