This is a lovely parasol handle is approx 15" long in its entirety which would date it to the Edwardian era when parasols were at their longest.
The wood appears to be walnut and expertly hand carved and is 10" long. The handle and knob are rolled gold (gold filled) and measure approximately 3.5" with the knob being 2" wide. There is a bold Old English monogram on the top of the knob which reads 'EW', or 'EM'. The handle has its original brown cord and tassels.
This looks to be the type of parasol handle that could be changed from one parasol to another depending on what the lady was going to wear. The end where the parasol would have attached is 2" long and has a 'patent applied for' mark along with a mark that reads NRW in a small cartouche.
I am selling this handle for my friend and she does not know the provenance.
