Welcome to Maiden Memories! This beautiful cameo is out of my personal collection. Sometimes we just must "pare down"!

A magnificent 2.25" long and 1.75" wide it has a very interesting bezel. It seems to swoop down on the side and rises up on both the top and the bottom. It elevates the brooch almost 1/2" from the pin back.

The hinge is of an old t-bar style but I believe the clasp may have been replaced at some time in this beautiful cameo's life.

Lovely detailed carving of sheer shell this cameo has a very regal almost Grecian look. A draped toga style neckline on the garment, a very lovely but very Grecian nose and beautifully carved ringlets all speak to the superior workmanship on this fine piece of antique jewelry. There is no marking on the bezel but by all appearances it seems to be 14K as there are no worn spots that would denote gold plated.

What more can be said but that this piece is decidedly a beautiful object and would be a delight to own!
