Welcome to Maiden Memories! This gorgeous shell carved cameo has a beautiful translucency. It's color varies from the softest ivory to the richest butterscotch.

She has what appears to be a feather head dress and around her dainty neck a tiny strand of pearls is carved.

The bezel has intricate workmanship and it is topped off by a small loop so that the brooch could be hung on a chain. It measures 1.5" across and 2" long including the ring loop. I has a safety catch on the clasp which is usually only added to jewelry of quality.

The reverse is stamped 14Y which is 14K yellow gold. This cameo brooch is circa 1890. I do not know it provenance or it's origin. I DO know that it is a truly beautiful piece of antique jewelry that you could wear with pride.
