Fashion Statement of 1880, Photo of Two Beautiful Women

$22 USDFashion Statement of 1880, Photo of Two Beautiful Women

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Women:Clothing, Costume
A nice larger than usual cabinet photo of two young ladies that could be sisters. Their clothing is exceptional and so is the photographers studio prop. The photographer was Zahm in Warsaw, Illinois. Both ladies have interesting dresses but the lady standing shows hers better. A tightly fitted bodice with a velvet collar and jabot and tiny covered buttons going from the neckline to the edge of the bodice. The skirt has two parts, with the over skirt shorter than the under skirt and pulled up, ...
BRIDAL Photograph, Very Nicely Vintage Circa 1930's

$14 USDBRIDAL Photograph, Very Nicely Vintage Circa 1930's

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Wedding Couple, Wedding Dress
Times were hard in the 1930's during the last part of the Great Depression and this young couple was lucky really to have such nice wedding clothes. My parents were married in the 1930's (whoops, I guess that tells my age) and their family couldn't afford a wedding cake. It wasn't until their 50th anniversary when my sisters and I gave them a celebration that they had a three tiered wedding cake! They were so happy they had tears in their eyes, especially our mother. Back to this photo....This ...
Beautiful "Beauties" Old Mill Cigarette Silks, Premiums

$22 USDBeautiful "Beauties" Old Mill Cigarette Silks, Premiums

Vintage Collectibles:Tobacciana
These sweet and demure looking little ladies were most likely anything but. When these photo images were made these ladies were stage actresses and for the most part being an actress was not the best vocation for a real "lady". These lovely silks are such soft colors, aqua and coral. I don't think my scanner copies the colors quite right but I think you can get the idea. They each measure, selvage edge to selvage edge about 1.75" to 2" and end to end they are 3.25". Frayed on the ends, which is ...
Beautiful Ladies on Tobacco Silks, Old Mill Cigarettes "Beauties"

$22 USDBeautiful Ladies on Tobacco Silks, Old Mill Cigarettes "Beauties"

Vintage Collectibles:Tobacciana
The sweet little ladies shown on these two silks were probably stage personalities. Each picture has the signature of the lady. The picture and the signatures are printed on the ribbons, not woven. I have kept them for many years wondering just what I should do with them. Now I'm starting to downsize my "stash" so I will pass them on for your project. Each wonderful little portrait silk measures 1.75" to about 2" wide and is about 3.25" long. The selvage edge is the side and the end is fraying, ...
Tobacco Silks, "Beauties" Small Portraits of Famous Women of the Time

$22 USDTobacco Silks, "Beauties" Small Portraits of Famous Women of the Time

Vintage Collectibles:Tobacciana
I LOVE these little things! I have always wanted to do something with them but could never decide what. I thought of making tiny framed pictures for the walls of my daughter's doll house...but i didn't do it. As I grow older I realize that I don't have the manual dexterity nor the vision. Bifocals, you know! Anyway, they are a petite almost 2" by about 3.25". Some are frayed more on the top and bottom than others and some are wrinkled more than others. You could press them lightly with your ...
Tobacco Silks, Small Photo Portraits From Old Mill Cigarettes, Beauties

$22 USDTobacco Silks, Small Photo Portraits From Old Mill Cigarettes, Beauties

Vintage Collectibles:Tobacciana
Famous stage actresses at the turn of the last century, these small portraits were given as premiums for Old Mill Cigarettes. Many people collected each one of them and sometimes they were put into albums but more likely made into a whimsey. I think they are really petite gems to be treasured! I guess that's why I have kept them all these years. Each measures about 1.75", selvage to selvage and about 3.25" long. They are somewhat wrinkled but you could press them lightly with your steam iron on ...
Greeting Card, EASTER, Two Cute Kids Under An Umbrella, Scrapbooking

$5 USDGreeting Card, EASTER, Two Cute Kids Under An Umbrella, Scrapbooking

Vintage Collectibles:Holiday, Seasonal:Easter
This little card was published by Volland circa mid to late 1940's. It reminds me of what my Grandfather used to say when I was young and it was raining..."This is great weather for ducks!". The little duck on this card is enjoying the drips that are coming from the edge of the umbrella. 3.5" x 4.5" message in ink on the inside. Good condition for scrapbooking!
Photograph, Wedding Couple Circa 1900, The Bride Is Wearing Glasses, Spectacles

$18 USDPhotograph, Wedding Couple Circa 1900, The Bride Is Wearing Glasses, Spectacles

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Wedding Couple, Wedding Dress
It's unusual to see a photograph of a woman of this era wearing glasses let alone one wearing them in her wedding photo. The newly married couple looks young and the groom sure looks stern, but yet handsome. The brides dress has details of lace down the bodice and sheer voile sleeves that hang free at the wrists. The bodice has small a cape effect at the shoulder, also of voile. It looks to me that the veil and headpiece are being held in place by a ribbon with a bow at the side of her chin. I ...
Greeting Card or Booklet, Printed in Chicago Written in FINNISH

$32 USDGreeting Card or Booklet, Printed in Chicago Written in FINNISH

Vintage Collectibles:Religious:Finnish, Swedish, Gustaf Akerman
The last part of the 19th century brought many European immigrants to the shores of the United States. Then, as now, the immigrants liked to hold onto the customs of their mother countries and so we find antique greeting cards such as this one. The beautifully embossed cover opens to reveal a verse by Gustaf Akerman that is written in Finnish. I tried to translate this verse with one of the on line translation sites but I didn't get a very good idea of what the text reads. Perhaps someone ...
Sweet But Sad Little Doll, Dollie, Dolly

$48 USD Offers ConsideredSweet But Sad Little Doll, Dollie, Dolly

Dolls
This little girl is only sad because she is in sad condition. Dirty face and dirty dress but I guess that means she was well loved. I'm not a doll person and this doll came to me quite by accident in a large lot of "stuff' at an auction. I love auctions!! Anyway, she is petite at about 5.50 inches. She looks to have home sewn clothes, a china or porcelain head, a composite body of some sort and mohair hair, what there is left of it. Nicely painted face, but very dirty. I didn't clean her because ...
Cabinet Card, Antique Photo of Stunningly Beautiful Woman

$18 USDCabinet Card, Antique Photo of Stunningly Beautiful Woman

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Women
It's so unusual to see an image of a beautiful woman in these old photographs because they didn't have the cosmetic "helpers" that we women have today. This image is of a quite lovely lady taken circa 1890's. Taken by Towles in Cumberland, Md it is in an oval format mounted on photographers cardboard. Total measurement is 4.25 x 6, the image itself is 2.5 x 3.5 and is in good vintage condition, light soil, bent corner upper right.
Cabinet Card, Antique Photo of Stunningly Beautiful Woman

$12 USDCabinet Card, Antique Photo of Stunningly Beautiful Woman

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Women
Such a sweet, demure pose, very theatrical! Many old photos were posed so stiffly but not this one. This beautiful maiden is looking "upward and onward" to the future. I wonder if she liked what she found. 4.25" x 6.75" the cardboard mount has been trimmed but the image is intact. Some light soiling, scuffing.
Cabinet Card, Antique Photo of Stunningly Beautiful Woman

$18 USDCabinet Card, Antique Photo of Stunningly Beautiful Woman

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Women
Dramatic pose!! This photo is purposely dark for dramatic effect and I think it works very well. It would be hard to date this photo exactly but I would guess it is from the first part of the 20th century, probably around 1915 or so. Enclosed in a photographers mount/folder the overall measurement is 6.5" x 11" and the image itself measures 5.75" x 3.50". Very good all over vintage condition. Photographer, Paxona in Fresno, CA.
REDUCED Book, The CHINESE DRAMA, R.F. Johnston, Illustrations Winzer, Published 1921

$295 USD ReducedREDUCED Book, The CHINESE DRAMA, R.F. Johnston, Illustrations Winzer, Published 1921

Antiques:Book, Chinese, Chinese Drama Illustrations
This is a soft bound, 36 page book with six illustrations taken from original paintings by C. F. Winzer. Printed in English with some Chinese characters. The narrative introduction states that Chinese drama has been neglected by students of Chinese life and thought. It also states that Chinese plays are so long that they are spread over many days and that "European" viewers can not listen to the whole play. The six illustrations have retained their brilliant color and are printed on "slick" ...
REDUCED Bo Diddley Psychedelic Poster/Post card Rock 'n Roll CONCERT 1967, Bo Diddley

$24 USD ReducedREDUCED Bo Diddley Psychedelic Poster/Post card Rock 'n Roll CONCERT 1967, Bo Diddley

Vintage Collectibles:Entertainment:Psychedelic Art
Where were you on November 17th, 18th and 19th, 1967?? This is an un-posted post card for a concert featuring Bo Diddley and Lee Michaels in November 1967 at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco. It's an original...not a repo! Pretty indicative of the 1960's and the "flower power" illustrators. This card was illustrated by W. S. Henry. The overall measurements are 5" x7". There is a mark on the reverse where some scotch tape was attached and the card is creased right to left from the lower right ...
CLOISONNE, Three Piece Set of Table Ware, Shakers and Lidded Pot

$65 USDCLOISONNE, Three Piece Set of Table Ware, Shakers and Lidded Pot

Vintage Collectibles:Asian
From my Mother's collection! She used these three lovely pieces on her table and put salt and pepper in two of them and some hot spice of some sort in the other. I have misplaced the little spoon somewhere along the line. They are all very nicely done and feature a dragon design in blue on a white ground. All of them are on brass, some a little "shinny-er" than others. The tallest piece measures about 2.5", the next is about 2.25" and the little lidded box is 1.50". The lid on the box is hinged ...
The CHAMBERS BROS. Rock 'n Roll Concert 1967 San Francisco Iron Butterfly

$54 USDThe CHAMBERS BROS. Rock 'n Roll Concert 1967 San Francisco Iron Butterfly

Vintage Collectibles:Entertainment:Psychedelic Art
This concert took place April 28th and 29th 1967 in the Avalon Ballroom San Francisco. The Chambers Bros., Iron Butterfly and Ben VanMeter. Perfect collector item for the aging Hippie! The card measures 5"x7" and has good color, sharp edges and corners. It is un-posted but has been taped and the back has a spot of missing paper and a brownish mark from old tape. This is an original and not a reproduction!
Antique PHOTOGRAPH, Two Guys and One Sweet Gal, Circa 1900

$28 USDAntique PHOTOGRAPH, Two Guys and One Sweet Gal, Circa 1900

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Women
These two guys are looking adoringly at the young lady. I suppose they could be siblings but I would rather think that the young woman had two admirers! The clothing on the three looks like the era right after the turn of the last century before the women started to "bob" their hair. Taken in The Elite Studios, Great Falls, Idaho, the mounting card measures 7.75"x4.25" and the image itself is in an oval that measures approximately 5.75"x2.25'. The mounting is heavily creased at the upper right ...
Snuff Vial or Perfume, Sterling Silver Made In Mexico

$28 USDSnuff Vial or Perfume, Sterling Silver Made In Mexico

Silver:Sterling:Snuff
This vial is marked "Sterling" and "Mexico" on the bottom. It is simple in its design with only machine engraved concentric circles on the front and back, of slightly differing design. The lid, which has the small scoop attached, is topped with a small turquoise colored stone. The overall measurements are 1 1/8" wide and 1 1/2" tall, to the top of the lid. Condition is good with only a tiny dent on the bottom. You will see in my scan that at one time it was coated to retard tarnish but that ...
Sterling silver Snuff/Perfume Vial Hallmarked Made In Mexico

$95 USDSterling silver Snuff/Perfume Vial Hallmarked Made In Mexico

Silver:Sterling:Snuff
When I was much, much younger I remember seeing these small sterling vials and I always thought they were perfume bottle to carry in ones purse. Now, I think they are snuff bottles but I think many use them as perfume vials. This is a particularly nice one which has a hand etched Aztec style calendar on one side and a rather large red stone on the lid. While growing up in Arizona I always remembered these red stones as being called Mexican Coral.....The sterling mark and the makers mark are on ...
Scrumptious Yellow Enamel Silver Overlay Perfume Flask/Vial

$115 USDScrumptious Yellow Enamel Silver Overlay Perfume Flask/Vial

Silver:Silver Overlay
Doesn't this just make you smile? Yellow is such a happy color and this little perfume vial is such a happy, lovely thing! I am having a hard time dating it and I'm considering Art Deco Era (1920-1940) because of the strong linear design of the silver. The silver overlay seems to be added to a porcelain base. It has a regal presentation with the crown shaped lid. It has marks on the bottom which I believe read KF 6/6 or 6/0 but I am not familiar with them. It measures 2 1/4" at the widest point ...
Cigar Ribbon Block Quilted Pillow Cover/Top, All Hand Made, Circa 1900

$395 USDCigar Ribbon Block Quilted Pillow Cover/Top, All Hand Made, Circa 1900

Antiques:Textiles, Linens:Cigar Ribbon
This is a wonderful item that I have had for many years. I purchased it at an auction and had the intention to make it into the pillow I think it was intended to be. But I think as I get older it is easier for me to admit that I am not a good enough seamstress to work with such a antique textile. It is completely worked of cigar ribbons or cigar "bands". These silk ribbons were used to tie together a bunch of cigars and each silk bears the name of the cigar maker. This pillow cover or top is ...
2 Cute Little Father's Day Cards, Good For Scrapbooking/Re-purpose

$8 USD2 Cute Little Father's Day Cards, Good For Scrapbooking/Re-purpose

Vintage Collectibles:Holiday, Seasonal:Father's Day
These cards are from 1948 and have childish handwriting on the inside but the outside of the cards have such nice graphics. The "little girl" card is double sided. The die-cut little pony card is a Hallmark and was trimmed around the bridle and the harness with sparkles that have now turned dark. On the inside the glitter has discolored the paper. Just re-purpose the front into a cute handmade card or put it in your scrapbook! Each measures approx. 4" x 6", age related discoloring.
REDUCED GEORG JENSEN, Purse Perfume Vial/Flask, Sterling Silver

$115 USD ReducedREDUCED GEORG JENSEN, Purse Perfume Vial/Flask, Sterling Silver

Vintage Collectibles:Vanity Items:Scent, Perfume, Georg Jensen, Sterling
Delicate and charming little sterling purse vial by Georg Jensen with the original glass insert and the stopper. I have loved this little perfume flask for quite a few years but the time has come to pass it on. I have given two others to my daughter but I think I'll sell this one. This may be your good fortune! It measures a petite 1.75" long and is barely the size of a dime around. It is impressed on the bottom...Georg Jensen Inc., U.S.A. Sterling. I can see a mark on the bottom of the glass ...
Reward of Merit. Victorian Era "Report Card" to Willie Showers

$6 USDReward of Merit. Victorian Era "Report Card" to Willie Showers

Vintage Collectibles:Ephemera, Reward Of Merit
I like this little guy's name! Cute....and he must have been a good boy to get such a nice reward from his teacher. I suppose this reward of merit was given in place of a report card, or maybe in addition, I don't know. This card has a copyright date of 1879 by Gibson & Co. and it has a very nice period border surrounding a lithograph of a bouquet of flowers. The card measures 4.5" x 6.75" and has a creased upper right hand corner. The floral image is 2.5" x 4.5" and has been attached to the ...
Tortoise Shell Calling or Visiting Card Case, English Circa 1840's

$245 USDTortoise Shell Calling or Visiting Card Case, English Circa 1840's

Antiques:Calling Card Case
This type of small case was popular during the Georgian and early Victorian era. It was customary when visiting to present your card so that you could be announced. Nice custom, but I prefer today's custom of phoning first! Nicely styled case with a gentle curve to the sides, it measures 2 inches by 3.50". It is trimmed with what I believe to be bone but often times similar cases were made with ivory. The interior is the softest shade of rose velvet. The interior construction is most likely wood ...
Cabinet Card, Antique Photograph Bridal Couple, Beautiful Bride!

$18 USD Offers ConsideredCabinet Card, Antique Photograph Bridal Couple, Beautiful Bride!

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Wedding Couple, Wedding Dress
I think this couple had a little money because their wedding outfits are above the ordinary. I have taken a tight view on my scan of the bride and her gorgeous dress because I think this is the highlight of the photo! The groom's suit is very nice but isn't the bride always in the spotlight?! Taken by A. Dolson in Shipley, which I think must be in England, but there is no country identification to be found. In great shape for its advanced age but there is a streak of developing solution down the ...
AMULET, Bear TOOTH Pin, Gold Tone Mounting Victorian Era

$225 USD Offers ConsideredAMULET, Bear TOOTH Pin, Gold Tone Mounting Victorian Era

Antique & Vintage Jewelry:Antique:Fine
This must be a bear tooth by the size of it! I guess it was some person's good luck piece. I think I would like to wear it only as a piece of jewelry, and it would look nice on the lapel of a suit. My guess says that this is a canine tooth and probably from a bear because of its length. This pin is made only out of the crown of the tooth and would not include the root. The pin measures 1.75" long and 1/2 inch wide at the top and is nicely fitted with gold fill or gold foil. On the butt of the ...
REDUCED Stunning Vintage Hankie, Retro Colors of Black and Green

$10 USD Offers ConsideredREDUCED Stunning Vintage Hankie, Retro Colors of Black and Green

Vintage Clothing & Accessories:Hanky
This hankie is virtually un-used but it doesn't have its tag. I can feel the sizing in the material so I don't think it has been washed. No spots, stains, holes, etc. It measures about 14" square
Sorority/Fraternity Pin, 14K Gold With Seed Pearls, Lambda Phi

$395 USDSorority/Fraternity Pin, 14K Gold With Seed Pearls, Lambda Phi

Antique & Vintage Jewelry:Vintage:Gold:Fraternity
It's been a long time since I have had to read Greek letters and so here goes...I believe this pin reads Lambda Phi and the chapter Delta. Now I'm pretty sure of the Greek letters but I have no idea if this is a sorority or a fraternity pin. It is marked 14K on the reverse along with a makers mark and is nicely studded with seed pearls. It's actually a very beautiful pin and could easily be mounted on a gold disc to attach it to a charm bracelet or it could be made into a tie tac or a lapel pin. ...
