This One-Handled Tray from Limoges has a design of three branches of Lemons painted around the rim. The platter looks as though it was made with only the one open handle, although it is likely that the missing handle was broken off and the edges smoothed over. There are two small holes drilled into the back at the no-handle end, as though the tray may have been hung on the wall, and some residue or discoloration (also on the back) as though repair may have been attempted. These flaws are not visible from the front. This platter is still a beautiful piece. The irregular oval-shaped platter measures 15 1/2" long, 16 1/2" with the handle, and 12 inches wide. The rim gives it a slight depth of about an inch. The faded backstamp reads: "T&V Limoges France" in green, with something illegible at the top of this mark. There is another plum colored backstamp with a bell logo. This one reads: "Decore Par Limoges, T&V (inside the bell) Pour Greenleaf and Crosby Co." These marks date the platter to the early 20th Century. Other than the mystery of the missing handle, this tray is in excellent condition. There is some minor wear on the lavish gold trim, and one tiny glaze pop, but no cracks or chips. Thank you for stopping by! Email always welcomed!
