Here are two extra Universal Pottery, Old Holland saucers to match the other Old Holland pieces listed at Maggie Belle's. These feature two different Colonial Couples silhouetted, one on each saucer. On one, the gentleman bows to the lady, as she holds her shepherd's hook and fan. On the other, she turns away shyly as he attempts to win her attentions. Like the others, both are on an ivory background with an embossed rim. Manufactured by Universal Potteries from 1934 through sometime in the 1940's, the embossed rim features a village with a windmill, a family sitting down to dinner, and several scrolls and flourishes all around the rim. The pattern is known as Old Holland. Each saucer measures 6 inches in diameter, and each is marked with the gold circular backstamp that reads: "Old Holland Ware" with a Windmill in the center of the circle. "Universal-Cambridge, Ohio, Made in U.S.A." around the perimeter of the circle, completes the mark. Each saucer is in very good condition, with some minor wear on the decals.
