Handsome, tailored and simple it is of exceptionally fine quality. Standing 6" x 1.25" at the flat of the base, it widens slightly to 1.5" at the top of the hinged cap.
Pale green, it retains it's original waxed finish with a clean silver cartouche at the top. The case springs open with a silver push button and has a handsome ridged collar.
Lining is somewhat worn, but still relatively intact. Original Rose silk shows the expected age related fading.
CONDITION: Very, very fine antique condition with minor age related wear. No splits to the Shagreen. Heavy wood under base is solid with no warping. Original nail heads are all present. The container has been carved with rounded edges to its' square trapezoidal design. One dint to the silver collar can be straighten by our Silversmith on request. We can also have the top cartouche engraved for you if you like. The tiniest almost illegible French Marks on the collar.
One of the finest pieces of Shagreen we've come across. Superb!
