Beautiful Victorian Evening Purse, Black Silk with Paste, 19th Century

A wonderful round box frame studded with brilliants supports the shirred black silk exterior of this exceptional period purse.

The interior is in the same fabric with one pocket. The bag closes by a brilliant studded flip latch which remains fully functional.

Measuring 5.5" round, the frame is 1.25" deep. The bag is carried by its' original wrist chain rising 4.75" from the top of the bag and measuring just under 10" in total length.

CONDITION: Very fine antique condition. Some deterioration of threads has caused the shirred silk to separate from the frame in 2 areas which will be secured by our restorer before shipping. The pastes remain bright and in place. The silk appears to have no tears. Entirely crafted by hand, 19th Century. Origin unknown.

A rare find, this will be a gorgeous display piece to add to your collection and remains just sturdy enough to be carefully carried.
