REFERENCE: Fig.4548, p148 Harding, "Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1875-1962: Portraits, Decorative & other Figures, Dogs & Other Animals, Later Reproductions"
The clay which creates the "fuzzy-hair" look is passed through a sieve and applied before firing. Many of these fine poodles were made well before and quite a bit after 1875. "Shiny" Gold, as opposed to "Best" Gold points to a later date....latest 19th C. to early 20th.
In perfect condition with NO damage, NO repairs, and only rubbing wear to the gilded collar and locket. Weighs nearly one pound. Shiny gold suggests a 20th century, perhaps late 19th century date of manufacture.
