CONDITION: Excellent. Rate 9.0 out of 10. Minor paint loss in white dots to his grey wig. Some copper lustre loss to the flowing blue cross stripes. Two hidden areas on the foot base have impact cracks, perhaps from the firing. His nose has imperfect color application giving him the appearance of having dipped his nose into the ale! Toward his back, midway, just to the left of the wood-stock-like handle, there is an impact mark w/ tiny horizontal scratches along a line no bigger than 1/4". With handle to the left and face to the right, a firing crack can be seen in his hat brim. This does not catch a finger-nail and is under glaze. It can be seen faintly on the reverse side, pattern side, and appears to have originated at the seam (where the 2 halves were joined together in-the-making). Full of personality, he is a joy to own and fits well into the old Flow Blue, Lustre and Early English Staffordshire Transferware collection.
