SALE French Clock and Candelabra Set, c1880

Dating from the last quarter of the 19th century, this fabulous gilt bronze clock and candelabrum are set in white onyx.

Each piece measures 20" high, with the clock being 12 1/2 inches wide and each candelabra 5 1/2 inches wide. The clock will run for 2 weeks with each winding, yet is quite sensitive to the levelness of the mantle or shelf where it sits - more so than other antique clocks I have had. The face of the clock reads "Roger - Chabert, a Beziers."

Shown are some scratches to the white onyx base, which do not distract from this highly decorative set. They could be buffed out. There is also a surface crack on the back of the candelabra with the scratches.

I have the insurance appraisal papers for this elaborate set. It was valued in 2003 at $4800.
