What a wonderful find! This folding baby carriage is in very nice condition. From my research, this piece, by Thayer, converts to a bassinet. The Patent was applied for on 10/11/1948 by W.C. Troendle and Patent Number 2,646,286 was approved and dated 7/21/53. Model number for this particular carriage is 988 and metal tag is attached on the front edge rim.

This carriage is in very nice condition for being 56 years old! Although it could use a general cleaning, it's not bad and the body is in very nice shape. The metal frame has some light surface rust but this is to be expected!

Measurements: 32" in height (top of hood to floor); 26" length of body; 32" length of body + handle; 16" width (from one side of handle to the other.)

The body of the carriage is strong and sturdy. It is gray with white detail. White vinyl appears around the upper edge of the body. There are a few small tears in the vinyl and a few tacks are missing but it is still nicely intact.

The bonnet or hood is also in good condition with minimal wear to the gray, coated fabric covering. This is also collapsible and is in good working order. Additionally, the handle easily collapses and drops the body down to wheel level and can be used as a bassinet. There is a metal bar brake on the bottom frame and it, too, is in good working order.

There is no longer any mattress inside the carriage; there is a piece of stiff cardboard. I think this is original, but I'm not positive.

The wheels and tires are in very nice condition however there is only one small metal "hub cap" on one wheel -- the other three are missing.
