I made one of these graduated Byzantine chainmaille (chain maille) necklaces before, but it's so gorgeously unusual that I wanted to make another one. There's well over 3 troy ounces of sterling in this necklace so you definitely know you have something substantial, but the fluid way it drapes around the neck so makes it a pleasure to wear. Normally this type of sheet weave lies flat and if you try to wear it as a necklace it just bunches up in strange ways. I just learned how to make this weave curve so it will follow the flow of your neck ~ it takes a variety of sizes of jump rings to make the curve happen, it takes HOURS to make because the entire necklace is woven one ring at a time, but the results are phenomenal.
