This late 19th Century Victorian bar pin, would be classified as "mourning" jewelry. Black jewelry was very popular in the Victorian era, after the death of Prince Albert. It was worn in Great Britain for almost 50 years, and was also popular in the United States after the Civil War. The stones are made of glass to resemble the jet that was mined in Whitbey, England.
