It is crafted in solid 14K yellow gold, and is hallmarked with '14K' and 'CROSBY'. I have not been able to find information on the maker, however this and another 'Crosby' ring that I have in my Ruby Lane shop were obtained from a New York state auction house, so I suspect that the maker was based in New York state as well.
The gold work on the ring is very unique - I have never seen another like it. The shoulders are carved with a scroll and vine motif and this design carries to the front of the ring as well, were a beautiful floral design unfolds.
There are six beautifully cut light to medium purple genuine amethysts set into the ring, which are held in place with claws on either end. Each of the stones have a unique (and very Deco) hexagonal cut, and measures approximately 7 mm x 5.25 mm. Due to the unusual cut of the stones, I am unable to estimate the carat weight of the ring, but I would guess that the total carat weight is around 5 carats.
The front of the ring measures 0.83" from top to bottom. The thick and strong band narrows to 0.07" at the very back. The ring is currently a size 6.75 to size 7.
This well made ring measures a hefty 7 grams.
This piece is in very good vintage condition. It has been cleaned and is ready to wear.
