This piece Commemorated It measures approx. 7/8" high and 1/2" wide. It is in excellent condition. The enamel is good, there is just some glare from the flash. It is signed with the GJ mark.
Denmark had been occupied by German troops for nearly 6 months on his 70th birthday but the King won the hearts of the people by continuing to go out daily for a ride through the streets of Copenhagen.
Being seen on a daily basis as being both dignified and reserved towards the representatives of the occupying forces the Danish people took their courage and strength from him and when they celebrated the Kings 70th birthday it was done in style
