Theodore Haviland Oval Serving Platter

$43 USDTheodore Haviland Oval Serving Platter

Porcelain:Fine Porcelain:Limoges
This platter, from Theodore Haviland, was manufactured and decorated in Limoges, France, in the early part of the 20th century. It demonstrates an unusual restraint in its decoration, with simple gold lines on the handles and green floral transfers. Dare one say it's almost a masculine piece of Limoges? Measuring 11 x 16 inches, it's quite a large and heavy platter, in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
Tressemann & Vogt Oval Covered Vegetable Dish

$45 USDTressemann & Vogt Oval Covered Vegetable Dish

Porcelain:Fine Porcelain:Limoges
This very special dish was manufactured and decorated by Tressemann & Vogt in Limoges, France, circa 1907. Apparently it was designed for a retailer with branches in Toronto and Winnipeg, Canada. It bears a very colorful transfer decoration of pink roses linked with a beautiful green vine. The gold that accents the handles and the rim is intact with little to no wear. On very close examination there is a tiny flaw in the the rim - it doesn't look to be a chip or repair, perhaps just a rough spot ...

$12 USDVery old square plates from Charles Field Haviland (Limoges, France)

Porcelain:Fine Porcelain:Limoges
Square plates - what an unusual find! These plates are quite old, dating to sometime between 1882 and 1900. These fellows have had quite a life, surviving over 100 years with no chips or damage, although most of their gold is nearly worn away. But they still retain quite a bit of character, with the square shape alone making them quite unique. They each measure 7 1/2 inches across. There are two available; price shown is for each plate.

Considering its age, this platter is in remarkable condition, free of chips and cracks. The glaze sparkles like new except for very minor (almost invisible ...

$16 USDTheodore Haviland "Persia" Cup/Saucer, and Bonus Plate

Porcelain:Fine Porcelain:Limoges
In the mid-20th century, Theodore Haviland & Co. produced some very colorful patterns, and "Persia" is certainly a great example of these. The shape of the cup, saucer and plate match that of the popular "Chambord" and "Paradise" patterns of about the same time period. This cup and saucer are in great condition, with no chips or cracks whatsoever. The cup measures 3 1/2 inches in diameter cross the top, and the saucer is 5 1/2 inches across. Both have gold trim that show little wear. The 6 1/2 ...

Pictures do not do justice to this lovely piece. Hand-applied accents add a three dimensional effect to the applied decor of pink flowers. Large and Very Old Platter from Jean Pouyat (Limoges, France)

$43 USDLarge and Very Old Platter from Jean Pouyat (Limoges, France)

Porcelain:Fine Porcelain:Limoges
This interesting and unique platter is in very good condition for its age, and the marks indicate that it dates to no later than 1906, and possibly quite earlier. One of the marks contains a specific patent date (January 3, 1893), although this does not indicate a date of manufacture, it's safe to estimate that the piece dates from 1893-1906. Measuring 11 1/2 by 17 inches, the platter makes quite a statement, and the blue irises and other floral decorations show a bit of restraint, making this a ...

Porcelain:Fine Porcelain:Limoges
This very pretty gravy boat and underplate (which is not attached) date to before the turn of the 20th century, as the marks show them to have been manufactured in France between 1891 and 1900. No chips or cracks, just some minor wear to the gold. There is a tiny glaze pop on the boat itself that doesn't really show, but should be mentioned. The raised foot of the boat fits snugly into the outline of the underplate, as shown in the photos. While you might not actually use this for gravy, these ...

Beautiful Large Round Platter/Chop Plate from Elite Works, Limoges, France

$34 USDBeautiful Large Round Platter/Chop Plate from Elite Works, Limoges, France

Porcelain:Fine Porcelain:Limoges
This is a real conversation piece and would look stunning displayed on a coffee table, in a cabinet or even on the wall. It is a round platter or "chop plate" that measures nearly 12 1/2 inches across, and the sides rise up 1 1/2 inches from the table (probably to hold juices in the platter). The sides are also lightly scalloped and the edges are touched with gold, which sets off the beautiful pattern of pink/purple flowers and green leaves. No chips, cracks or repairs on this lovely item, which ...

There are no chips, cracks or other problems with this lovely piece. The opening measures 6.5" across, 9" from handle to handle.
Handpainted Haviland & Company Display Plate

$13 USDHandpainted Haviland & Company Display Plate

Porcelain:Fine Porcelain:Limoges
This lovely, 9.5" Haviland & Company blank has been handpainted with beautiful purple and green floral decoration. The mark (shown in the last photo) dates the piece to 1888-1896. During that period it was a popular pastime for fashionable ladies and other would-be artists to paint whitewares from Limoges in their spare hours. The only flaw we can find is a small, minor chip on the rim that cannot be seen from the front (see third picture), and the photos attest to its unique beauty. This ...
Charles Ahrenfeldt Dinner Plate

$20 USDCharles Ahrenfeldt Dinner Plate

Porcelain:Fine Porcelain:Limoges
A lovely find - a dinner-sized display plate from Charles Ahrenfeldt. Additional marks on the back show this piece to have been sold through the Jaccard jewelry store in Kansas City, Kansas. The third mark reads, "Grand Prix, St. Louis, 1904." Perhaps this was a commemorative plate of some kind, or the pattern won an award at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. Who knows - but it does look pretty!

This lovely bowl was manufactured by William Guerin in Limoges, France, and was decorated by hand with yellow roses. The quality of the painting is excellent, with the flowers and leaves delicately textured and rendered in perfect detail. The gold is not worn at all, retaining all of its original luster.
