c.1790 English Naive School; "Nelson as a Lad"; a Portrait Miniature of a young man in the uniform of a Midshipman; watercolor on ivory; titled and priced in pencil verso (see photograph); in a period oval hardwood frame; 2.6 x 2ins (6.8 x 5.2cm)

A charming portrait of a young "Mid" who may well have been a contemporary of Nelson, though is unlikely to actually be him. the inscription on the reverse is very likely spurious, though there also seems to be an inordinately high price in shillings there as well.
