This stately piece from 19th century France has just come by container to the United States. It is hand carved oak with two large mirrors (new) in the central panels. The mirrors are surrounded by carved floral and foliate patterns and flanked by fluted columns topped with acanthus leaf capitals. The central carved piece is a lion head with a hook coming out of his mouth. On the lower half of the piece are two protruding stands each having a marble top. There are three carved panels along the base continuing the theme of floral and scrolling foliate. The entire piece has a total of ten wooden knobs and one metal hook. It appears that one wooden knob has been replaced with a smaller knob which blends nicely. The entire piece is set on bun feet and has hooks on the back to set it firmly against a wall. Please note that the lion's head does have some damage, but this does not at all detract from the beauty of this amazing piece.Measurements are as follows :
90" High
57" Wide
12" Deep
