This lithograph comes from a portfolio called Sourires de Paris which is a 1st Edition printed in 1915. The rest of the lithographs are also in my shop online so feel free to browse.
Steinlen went to Montmartre (an artist community in Paris) in his 20's where he met artist Adolphe Willette. This man became his friend and his introduction to a famous 19th century cabaret called Le Chat Noir.
This is where he developed his amazing skills as a phenomenal poster artist in Paris.
Also a man well known for his strong political opinions which sometimes came out in his artwork.
It is copyrighted 1915 Librairie de l'Estampe Paris.
This measures 15" x 10 3/4" and is unframed.
Item ID: RL 250
