This is a most unusual piece and very nice! It is marked on the bottom with the Laurel Branches flanking each side of a mountain top and reads: MADE IN JAPAN HAND PAINTED which probably dates this to the 1940-50's.

It is made of a ceramic type pottery and has an abstract primitive type fish design that is etched/incised around the designs. It is very colorful and still retains the majority of its hand painted design. It seems to be patterned after the art pottery of Okinawa, Japan.

It measures 8 1/4" tall with a 2 1/4" diameter base and a 2" diameter opening at the top. Other than some slight paint loss it is in good condition with no cracks, chips, etc.
