James Dixon & Sons Pewter or Silver Measuring Cup
Shipping/Handling: To Be Determined
Insurance: $1.75 USD

This is an interesting measuring cup made for the US market by James Dixon and Sons of Sheffield. It would have been made after 1879 which was when they first introduced the trumpet in their trade mark to distinguish them from James Deakin and Sons of Sheffield. Both of these companies were prolific makers of pewter and Britannia metal items. It was probably made at the end of the nineteenth century or early twentieth century for Abercrombie and Fitch of New York who were founded in 1892. They are now known as clothing manufacturers.
It is a 4 oz. measuring cup which was made of either a pewter alloy or it may have originally been silver plated. It is marked down one side 1 oz to 4 oz. The bottom is marked with 5 maker's symbols which denote the maker as James Dixon & Sons. Engraved below that is: Abercrombie & Fitch Co. New York Made in England L.382 / 4. It has some pitting, dings, and nicks, but still in overall good condition. It measures 3" high.
