WONDERFUL ESTATE FIND ! Outstanding, High Quality, Vintage 5 Piece Hostess Serving Set in Original Box. It was ~Made In America~, by the Premier Silver Company Reed & Barton of Taunton, Mass. Founded in 1824, they are perhaps the oldest silver and silverplate producers in the country. Reed & Barton maintains its reputation of fine quality and national acclaim. Services by Reed & Barton have graced the table of the White House.

This fabulous set includes pieces for serving Hors d' Oeuvres such as seafood, cocktails, sauce, fruit, Judging by the box, it appears to date to early 20th century.

What makes this set so outstanding is the extreme detail of the designs on the individual pieces. Each is different and absolutely stunning. While the serving end is simple yet elegant, the handles are remarkable. Five magnificent sets of flowers form the end of each. Roses, foxgloves, poppy, periwinkle, thistle, in detailed relief, form the ends of each piece. Not only is the front side amazing, the backside of each, though not as detailed, is still a work of art as well. This feature is a certain sign of high quality and workmanship. Any company producing this kind of service tool is worthy of recognition.

Each piece measures approximately 5.5 - 5.75" in length. Width varies. Set is boxed with care upon a felt like surface, slightly faded. Each silverplate serving piece is richly polished and untarnished. While it appears to have been used, it is still in remarkably fine condition. Each is marked Reed & Barton in block letters on stem.

Although this set is extremely delicate in appearance, it is strong and sturdy, to last the test of time. It was produced with excellence in workmanship, with special consideration towards beauty. Any hostess would be proud to display such beauty at table. I am certain her guests will appreciate them as well.
