1951 PZH Gouda Holland Jug "Metz"

Beautifully decorated handled jug by the Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland (PZH) Company of Gouda, Holland. The company was in production from 1898-1964. This jug was produced in 1951. Decoration is painted in the "Metz" design. Possibly painted by Maarten van Heijningen.

The bottle shaped jug with elongated handle is indeed an attractive piece of Gouda. Rich colors of orange, yellow-gold, royal blue, and lavender-gray, are all accent colors against a greenish white background. Forest green, and black are also used as handle and banding colors, completing the vivid contrast.

The jug stands 6.75" tall. The rounded belly is 3.5" wide, 10.5" dia. Mouth is 1.25" at spout. Condition is excellent. No chips or cracks. Crazing to light shaded area only. Fully marked on bottom with classic Gouda markings.

A positively great piece of vintage Gouda pottery, by one of Holland's most famous production companies. Any collection would benefit from a piece such as this.
