Absolutely stunning, J. Morsey 13" LS&S Factory Painted Limoges wall charger. Painting is done overglaze.

Artistry is meticulously executed by notable factory artist "J. Morsey". His signature is located in the lower left side of this large masterpiece on French porcelain.

Although this artists "canvas" was porcelain, it represents the beauty and phenomenal talent for which Limoges is so well noted.

Morsey is listed in Mary Gaston's Ref. book, "Collectors Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain".

This investment quality charger bears the red backstamp of LEWIS STRAUS & SONS of Limoges, France. It was used between 1891-1917. While this company made and imported porcelain from all over Europe, their decorating studio was in Limoges. Pieces marked with the Straus marks are always professionally decorated.

There are factory holes on the back of the charger for hanging purposes.

Its condition is excellent. There is a faint curved line about 4" to the lower left side of the painting. The line is curved, as if another charger was placed on top before the paint was completely dried. I have tried to show this in a photo. It by no means detracts from the majesty of this piece. It is barely noticeable. It feels a bit raised to the touch. The condition of the plate is otherwise excellent.
