This is a very lovely representation of Ceres, Roman Goddess of the Harvest, in hand-carved shell cameo, worn as a pendant. The cameo dates from the early part of this century; the contemporary "wirewrap" that it is set in is of 14KG. Three 1 MM strands tightly encase the cameo, forming its bezel. Atop is a multi-curlicue that culminates in a double-bail. The pendant measures 50 MM x 35 MM; add another 8 MM to its height for the bail. Cameo has nice carving in the hair, sheaf of wheat around the head, tendrils of hair on the neck, folds of the gown. Cameo has no chips, no cracks. Perfect.
