Early Christmas Sale on Royal Doulton Dogs and Jug! Offers Welcomed!
Christopher Columbus himself relaxes in a "Marks Adjustable Reclining Chair," whilst the Brownies surround him and Uncle Sam arrives. The short script for the scene is found on the card's front: "At the Worlds Fair. Uncle Sam - What have you found now Christopher? Columbus - Ah! At last we have discovered 'SOLID COMFORT.'"
Produced by Bigelow Lithography Company, Springfield, Massachusetts.
The card measures 5 3/8" by 3 3/8", and is in very good condition, with no chips, tears, or losses. The corners are slightly rubbed, and there are a few tiny faint creases; the largest by far being a small crease to the upper righthand corner (see photos). The colors are still bright and the card still feels crisp.
A gorgeous and highly desirable antique advertisement.
