Original Majolica Syrup Jug, 1880's

This is a very hard to find shape in majolica, as many were broken, so it makes a great addition to your majolica or syrup pitcher collection. It measures about 4 ˝” tall, including its solidly attached hinged pewter lid. Made circa 1880’s, it is probably American, possibly English (unmarked, as most majolica pieces were). It has multi-layers of design, with the main decoration a large leaf on both sides, over a ‘wood fence’ texture; at bottom is a basket weave. Inside is glazed, as shown, and all is in excellent condition: no crazing, chips, cracks, and the only bit of wear showing is the oxidation at the top of the pewter, not uncommon with older pewter .If shipping charges are a concern, please email with your zip code, before making a purchase order, and I will be happy to figure your specific charges for you.
