This is a limited edition pin given to my relative by a NASA engineer, produced by NASA, in honor of the Challenger mission, which exploded in 1986, killing all of the astronauts on board, including Christie Mcauliffe. The front of the 1 1/8” pin is in full color, with representations of the US flag, a world globe, outer space, and the Challenger. The border has the names of the 7 astronauts. On the back is an embossed legend: NASA,STS-51L, 1-28-86,Challenger. In mint condition--never used, so no wear to front or back; fairly heavy for its size--brass? An excellent gift for a collector.
