"Tagua" is harvested from the palm plant "Phytelephas aequatorials" which grows in the wild in the tropical zones of the Ecuadorian coastal regions. It is also known as vegetable ivory due to its close resemblance and hardness to the familiar ivory of African elephants and is why they make nice jewelry components.
In this necklace I hang the tagua pendant on cotton cord intertwined with lampwork glass beads. Smaller beads are dangled "here and there" to add interest.
It is 18" long with a 2" chain extension and copper colored clasp.
I have several of these pendants. Because they are made from natural material each is slightly different. The one you receive may vary from the picture shown -- the overall necklace design is the same.
