Frank Leonard Allen (signed l.l.; American: 1884 - 1966; listed askart, artprice, etc), Napping Jewish Fruit Peddler, oil pastel, l930's. Size: 10 x 8" plus black wood frame; very good condition. This is one of a series of sketches made by Allen of the Hasidic residents of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York. Allen was a painter and art instructor at Pratt Institute of Art and the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Frank Allen was also head of the Design Department at the Massachusetts School of Art and Director of the Boothbay Studios Art School in Boothbay Harbor, Maine
