Soft Blue Madonna or Virgin Mary Planter

This is a lovely Madonna or Virgin Mary Pottery Planter. She is glazed in a very soft matt blue finish and this entire piece has a wonderful, rounded feel to it.

Mary's expression is so soft and comforting, her veil gently drapes her and there is just a suggestion of a baby in her embrace. The planter base has soft scalloped edges and the rim has circular designs around it.

Mary is in good vintage condition, there is one small underglaze defect on the side of her veil and there is one small glaze “pop” or miss to her front right edge (1/4 cm.) and then again, on the inside mouth of her planter (1/2 cm.).

Mary is unmarked, showing only the stilt marks from her firing, and the interior of her planter is very clean, looking like she was never used.

Measurements: 6" tall by 5" across planter rim and 4-1/2" across base. Planter is 2-3/4" deep.
