Welcome to my shop! I have experience with pottery, books (and cats) and hope I can help you find what you're looking for!
Condition of the ewers and jug is great with light paint loss to rims, the larger two-handled urn does show a chip to rim and repair to it’s bowl. I am unsure of their vintage, but believe them to be earlier pieces, probably 60- 70's era, and what great little miniature pieces!!
Two of the pieces are signed to base: “Copy Made in Greece, Mary” is on the handled ewer and the jug with trefoil spout states “Copy Hand Made, Mary,” the urn is unsigned.
Measurements: Handled Ewer is 1-1/2” tall by 1-1/2” across base; Urn stands 1-1/2” tall by ¾” across base and 2-1/4” from handle to handle; Trefoil lipped Jug: 2” tall by 3/4" across base and approximately 1-1/4” across widest part of body.
The decorations to all three of these pieces is amazing in their detail!
1) The Urn has a picture of a woman playing a flute with a leafy branch in her hand, her hair is in an elaborate design with an orange headband, the woman’s facial features, hair and fingers have been etched into the black background of the pottery, you can feel the striations when you run your finger over it! The other side of this urn has a branch with leaf decoration. This urn is decorated with shades of black, orange and brown over a creamy mottled beige background.
2) The handled ewer has circular lines in orange, black and cream going around its creamy body, while there are three circular v-shaped cross-hatched designs around the neck of ewer.
3) The Jug with trefoil shaped spout has beautiful etched designs in three circular patterns of dark brown, black and cream. All of these pieces have black interiors with some light chipping to edges, but no cracks or repairs.
As always, thanx for shopping Katiques and please take the time to see my happy customer testimonials on my front page!
