Beautifully hand-made from (mostly) walnut, this charming little chest is in excellent condition, which I believe to be of late 1800’s/Victorian vintage. Each drawer is graduated in size and finished with a black pottery(?) knob, except for the last drawer which I believe has been replaced/married to this, and has a wooden knob.

Measurements: 17” tall x 10” wide and 6” deep. Condition is excellent, the drawers are constructed with tongue-in-groove design, the top of chest has a dentil molding rail across it as does the bottom foot.

I believe the fine graining on this piece marks it as constructed of walnut, with a fine ruddy-brown finish. There are five drawers altogether in graduated sizes, the top four are divided drawers with the third drawer appearing to have another style of wood to its front, and the bottom drawer is one whole drawer that also appears to be made of another type of wood.

This great little chest shows no damage, it is very well made and heavy, the drawers all fit well and securely and the whole piece is finished with a thin coat of varnish. There are two metal circle straps for hanging on the wall, and this wonderful antique piece is ready for everyday use - possibly as a custom jewelry box!
