A terrific multi-strand necklace for the upcoming season and beyond, making use of autumn and (yikes!) halloween colors but with a refreshing and sophisticated twist.

The focal strand features gleaming black garnet nuggets surrounding artisan lampwork that will remind you of fresh-dipt orange sherbert. The lampwork has what is called a "white heart" which gives it an ethereal inner glow. I've also used a larger polka-dotted bead in orange and deep brown from the same lampworker and two "sugared" black discs from another artisan. Around this strand I've wrapped a delicate black sterling silver chain with bezeled crystals. This black silver chain peeks out occasionally adding an air of mystery. Makes me think of fish-net stockings.

An additional strand of 7mm chubby grey onyx rondelles with a strategically placed lampwork bead falls below the first strand. The grey onyx rondelles have a bit of flash similar to that found in labradorite. The rondelles are punctuated with black and "black diamond" Swarovski crystals.

Both strands meet on one side at a handmade open-work flower connector that attaches to a nice-sized rolo chain. Dangling from the flower connector are additional (but smaller) rolo chains with a wire-wrapped Swarovski column crystal and an 8mm "black diamond" round.

On the other side of the necklace, the strands culminate in a well-placed lobster clasp that attaches to the rolo chain. Length adjustments can be made at this point.

The necklace looks its best and drapes perfectly when worn close to the base of the neck and is presently sized for women who like wearing a 20 inch necklace: the first strand measures approximately 20 inches, the second strand 23 inches. It can be easily resized to a necklace of 18 and 20 inch strands.

This is definitely a stand-out-in-the-crowd type of necklace; an autumn and halloween-themed piece with a grown-up attitude.
