Beautiful Festoon Necklace ~ From the late Art Nouveau period, this 1910 -1920s era necklace has a distinct Art Nouveau flare. The necklace is not signed, but the deep purple glass beads, especially the melon molded beads with open backs, indicate this piece was most likely made in the Bohemian or German region. The melon beads and the lower faceted round are prong mounted to Art Nouveau gold gilt brass medallions. The lower medallion is heart shaped with a dangling pear cut purple crystal, prong set with an open back and gold foiled on the back as well. The chain is a unique style of gold gilt brass. The necklace has the original hinge clasp and measures 17" with the whole focal area measuring 2 1/4" long. In very excellent and clean condition overall. This uncommon festoon necklace is a gem jewelry collectors will undoubtedly appreciate.
