A very beautiful piece of Alice Caviness jewelry made of sterling silver. This breathtaking rooster brooch is made up of a flawless sterling silver metal that has a 925 fineness. This means that the metal is 92.5% real silver and the rest is hardening metal. The front of the rooster is covered with beautiful life-like enameling and marcasites. The enameling is so realistic having green, blue, and brown tones for the feathers and yellow, brown, and red for the beak, claws, and comb. There are also parts of the feathers that have lovely pave set marcasites that really add a magnificent quality to this piece that is no characteristic of other jewelry. The eye is a bezel set marcasite and all these accents are in place and look marvelous. The back of this brooch has the pin and locking "C" clasp that holds great and the signatures "Sterling", "Alice Caviness", and "Germany" are stamped onto the back side of the tail feathers. This item measures 2 1/8" long by 2" wide and weighs an astonishing 25.6 grams so you will really be getting a whopper with this fabulous rooster. A lovely piece of Alice Caviness figural jewelry.
