Glorious parian head with all the clues that identify the early production of the Alt, Beck & Gottschalck Porcelain Factory, Nauendorf, Germany. The surface finish of the head has a satiny smooth feel, and a gentle shine which looks 'polished'. The facial painting has shaded blue eyes with glossy black pupils, black lash lines, red lid lines, red accented eye corners and nostrils, and shiny mouth and evenly blushed cheeks.
The molded and painted hair has deep comb marks and beautifully arranged curls with some spilling down over the forehead. The ears are exposed and pierced and have beaded earrings .
The original kid leather body is in excellent condition, with the un-jointed legs like her French Fashion doll competitors. There are no leaks or unsightly repairs. Although we did not remove her beautifully fitted gown, we inspected the lower half of the doll and found it to be pristine with no damage whatsoever, and with creamy smooth leather with no hint of damage.
Her costume is a replacement and the fitted bodice is stitched on the doll. It was most definitely made specifically for this doll. The color of the brocade plays up her coloring beautifully and fits like a glove. She has matching undergarments beneath with fagoted openwork at the hems, wonderful patterned stockings, and matching hand-made leather slippers with rosettes to match the dress.
A beautiful early doll in pristine condition is ready to joint your other cabinet-sized parian ladies and to steal the show.
