Stunning and near mint, circa 1860 bonnet made of very fine black leghorn straw and decorated with black silk ruching as well as deep navy blue (almost black) velvet ruching around the edge.

The brim has a very tight outward curve and the outside is decorated with 3" wide black grosgrain ribbon. The inside is lined in a very fine black cotton with a polished finish in a very fine hand.

The inner circumference is 18".

A very stunning reminder of late Civil War era finery.
