German bisque shoulder head with the earlier style child face that very closely resembles the Simon & Halbig #949. This particular head is unmarked, but has the high wide forehead with eyebrows in the heavy French style which are close to the eyes and closely meet over the bridge of the nose. She has the paperweight style eyes which are in their original set and her individually painted eyelashes are long and lavish and painted in a slanted manner from outlined almond-shaped eye cuts with corner red accents. Her closed mouth has full lips and there is a darker line with upturned corners separating them. She has a nice large chin dimple. There is a faintly incised '7' on the back of the head and a small pate hole rather than a fully cut out pate, similar to Belton heads.

The head measures 5" tall and 4" across the shoulders; 2-3/4" front to back inside the plate. This head would make a doll approximately 16" tall (+ / -) when mounted on the proper cloth or kid jointed body.

Condition: Excellent; no chips, cracks, or repairs. Two kiln dust specks on the nose as shown, but they do not detract.

Value note: A marked equivalent of this head, when complete with body, would be valued in the range of $2,200 to $2,500. An excellent value at our price.
