REDUCED Rare Louis Wain Book A Cat Alphabet Early 1900s

Here it is folks...the great Louis Wain book that you have been waiting for...with all pictures (mostly in full color!!) by Louis Wain! Entitled: A Cat Alphabet New York: Dodge Publishing Co.; printed in Great Britain at the Villafield Press, Glasgow, Scotland. Pictorial Cover. Approximately 7" x 10". A very scarce and wonderfully illustrately Louis Wain hardcover book. There is a full page full color illustration for each of the 26 letters of the alphabet, plus 6 full page illustrations each accompanied with a rhyme, plus another full page illustration as one of the prelims. Colors of all illustrations are bright, fresh and clear. Original decorated front and rear end papers. Hardback has paste down picture to front cover (see photo). No date, but estimate c. 1914-1916. Inside penciled notation stating that it was a Christmas gift in 1916. Condition: Binding: Front and rear corners worn, with some rubbing to edges. Front pasted illustration (see photo) has some light pencil marks and a bit of paper loss. Other marks commensurate with age. Joints slightly loose, end papers all intact. Interior: Some penciled original owner info on inside cover. Also, 4 pages have some yellow crayon marks on the artwork and 4 have some pencil or eraser marks on artwork, some of this may be able to be removed with proper cleaning. Many pages have some smudges on edges of pages outside the artwork from little hands and years of loving use. However, this is a great book and sure to please the Louis Wain lover! The cat's out of the bag and now can be part of your collection!!
