Gorgeous Josef Originals HAWAII in WHITE SARONG from International series. Mint

This wonderful little Miss is one of the two most elegant little ladies in the international collection, she is competing for the title with the also wonderful Miss Africa. Both are very hard to find pieces, specially in excellent condition.

The Simple elegance description applies to Miss Hawaii’s beautiful white sarong, which as I learned while visiting Hawaii, is the original typical costume. The grass skirt that has become so identifiable with the group of islands is not original to Hawaii, it is original to the Polynesian Islands. Hawaii happened to make them famous with all the advertising used to attract tourists with the most exotic image that could be related to the Pacific Islands.

Excellent condition, no chips, no cracks, no crazing. Absolutely Beautiful Golden skin tone, not too dark, which allows her pretty features to stand out....Just perfect! Anything that seems out of place in the photos is purely glare, her eyes are nice and dark. The gorgeous flowers adorning her dress are a beautiful strong Pink, looks fabulous against the white background and the large sculpted flower adorning her long hair is perfect with the sparkly gold adornments, that match the gold weave of her basket. The fruit basket is intact, the famous Pineapple is perfect with it’s 3 prongs. In some of my close up photos a small bump can be perceived in her sarong, this is not noticeable in person at all, it is just a very small raised area of pottery that is original to this particular piece being highlighted in the photos by the glare.

Measures just under 4" in height, incised on the bottom with the Josef Originals signature.

A perfect example of this model for the selective and discerning collector. This piece is also a very distinct and rare item for Hawaiiana collectors.
