I want you to have a pleasant experience with your purchase at Joan's Jewels & Collectibles. All items are described to the best of my ability and knowledge. Antique and Vintage items, are NOT going to be in new or in mint condition, unless so stated in the description. There are many times I use what is called New Old Stock (NOS) which are items that have been left in stockrooms from jewelry manufacturers that went out of business. I will always describe any flaws I see. My pricing will always reflect the fair market value based on the collectible value, research, and most importantly, the condition of each item.

JOAN'S JEWELS & COLLECTIBLES
Well, Joan of Joan's Jewels & Collectibles was bitten by Costume Jewelry in the 1950s. I can remember playing dress up in my Mom's clothes. Mom was a petite blonde and had gorgeous gowns and COSTUME jewelry. From that time on, I was lured to costume jewelry. When I was a teenager, we "bobby-soxers" would all go down to the local 5 & 10 cent store and look at all the jewelry -- that's all we could afford & of course we were buying that Tangee lipstick!

As I grew older, married, had children and now grandchildren -- I had fine gold jewelry, BUT I hardly ever wore it. When I wanted a Brooch or Earrings I always bought Costume Jewelry - it had more pizazz! Fine jewelry was just too small & boring for me -- so my collection just grew and grew. Of course there was a lot of "junk jewelry", I just threw out. Then, I started thinking -- at about age 50 -- what am I going to do when I retire? I've been working since age 13 - I had planned to retire at age 65. But, the company I was working for started downsizing - and as I was approaching 65 what better thing to do than retire Joan early -- me? retire before 65 - oh boy what am I going to do now. I have to find something to do. I don't want to go back in the work force -- who is going to hire me And I didn't want to sit around or play bridge all day? Not for me.

Being computer literate, I started roaming cyberspace and what to my wondering eyes did appear but, Web sites, auctions, etc. What were they selling?? You have it -- costume jewelry at prices I could not believe. So, Joan said -- I can do that. I am going to start a business on line -- I can work from home - set my own schedule - be my own boss - and more than anything else - I can have FUN doing this. So here I am.

I decided if I am going to sell these treasures from the past, I must be educated. I bought books and studied them cover-to-cover. I joined and am a Registered member of Jewelcollect (JC), a worldwide organization that shares its knowledge and expertise of Costume Jewelry. The members are steeped in knowledge and most of the Jewelry Books on the market are authored by its members. I also joined Vintage Fashion & Costume Jewelry (VFCJ) which has like members and dedicates itself to the history and preservation of Vintage Jewelry & Fashion.

I started my 1st online ventures in December of 1999 on eBay. I began treasure hunting and buying jewelry -- of course I bought jewelry that I had thrown away back in the 50s and 60s. It has been a joy and I have met so many wonderful people from all over the world. . My goal is to bring quality vintage items to you and make your internet buying experience a rewarding one! To that I am committed. Enjoyed visiting with you and hope to see you in my "Shopping Carts" - buying those "Pieces of the Past" or one of my JMR Original Designs as a future heirloom.

JMR ORIGINAL JEWELRY DESIGNS: I began designing jewelry when I had to repair an old retro Brooch in 2000. My designs incorporate Vintage components where possible. I also use settings or components that were separated from their original format at some point in time. I am kind of giving them a new life. I also use new and vintage Swarovski crystals and beads whenever possible. Most of my settings are vintage, new old stock (NOS) and where appropriate I have had these raw brass findings either gold plated or sterling plated through the Ideal Plating Company in Providence, RI. The designs are all 1-OF-A-KIND. I hope you enjoy them.

SHIPPING: DOMESTIC U.S. I will include insurance in my shipping options. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: Since the new Flat Rate Priority System for all the boxes does not allow insurance to be purchased, your shipping options will be sent to you after the Purchase Order is completed -- that way weight can be accurately determined.

LAY-AWAY TERMS: Any item costing less than $100 can be purchased with 2 monthly payments. Any item between $100 and $500 can be purchased with 3 monthly payments. Any item over $500 can be purchased with 4 or 5 monthly payments. I will work with you to make the lay-away easy for you. Payments must be made on time - if you are going to be late in making a payment, you MUST notify me with a reason - otherwise any payments made will be forfeited and the item will be returned to inventory and listed For Sale.
