German A.W. Fr. Kister Glazed Porcelain (China) Head Covered Wagon Doll

This large 27 inch tall doll has a beautiful china head created in Germany by the Kister firm in the 1850s. Her perfect head is an impressive 6 ¼ inches tall. She has black painted hair in a covered wagon style. She retains her original china arms with lovely well delineated fingers. As you can see from the photos, the tips of three of the fingers on the right hand are chipped and there is a hairline crack down that arm. She has older replaced well made body that is quite appropriate for the doll. Her antique period clothing consists of a cotton print dress and a white cotton petticoat and pantaloons. The head has no chips, cracks, or repairs with very minimal paint wear to the back of the head. The Kister mold has long been one of my very favorite covered wagon dolls with her pensive expressive and tentative timid smile.
